Welcome

Thank you for dropping in for a visit.

I am a singer/songwriter from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  I have a passion for songwriting and have spent years working at my craft  and loving the challenges of exploring a wide variety of styles and subject matter.   I am a 'late bloomer!'  My motto is that it is never too late to bloom!

I do not have a single style that can describe my music.  I love to take a song idea and look for the best way to tell the story.  For this reason my songs end up in an interesting variety of styles.

LATEST NEWS

  • I have a new CD called Roots Eclectic which, as you may have guessed, is an eclectic mix of my roots based songs.

  • Roots Eclectic is produced by internationally renowned Tim Williams and he also plays guitar, dobro, mandolin, and banjo.   Thom Moon who has worked with Ian Tyson is on drums; Kit Johnson on upright bass; Denis Dufrene (winner of  2011 CMAC fiddle and mandolin player of the year) adds his creativity on mandolin and violin; Eva and Suzanne Levesque from The Travelling Mabels (winner of Duo/Group of the Year 2012)  add their wonderful mother/daughter harmonies.
  • The CD has a natural acoustic sound with themes from the city and the country.  The  arrangements are varied, interesting and sometimes surprising.  A team of wonderful musicians brought a fresh insight to these songs that I think you will love.I am so lucky to live in Calgary.

I LOVE CALGARY
I have interesting opportunities to perform concerts and festivals in the city in the towns around Calgary.

The Rocky Mountains are just an hour drive away to the west.
The prairies are on my doorstep to the east.
          Inspiration is all around me!!

I've posted a few photos of some musical events and some 'road trips' around Alberta.

I hope you enjoy my music.  Check out where I am performing.  I'd love to see you at a concert or special event.

For the next while to hear some more of my music and read a few blog entries go to www.myspace.com/carolynharley
